The city was founded by the Thracians in 400 BC and has been a home for Romans, Slavic Tribes, Latins, and Ottomans during the centuries.

Day 2
Today, we will go hiking on the Eco Trail “Neviastata” (i.e. “The Bride”), which will treat us to one of the most magnificent views in the Rhodope Mountains.
It is easy to follow and does not require any special skills. If you are not afraid of heights, we will also go climbing Via Ferrata (Italian for “iron road”), where you will use iron cables and rungs to climb steep rocks.
After a relaxing picnic in the mountains, we will go to the quaint village of Nevestino and spend the night there.
