Kayaking on the river Struma – time for an exciting adventure and a lot of emotions!

What is a kayak in fast water with an inflatable kayak?

For fast kayaking with an inflatable kayak, we could say that it is quite “gentle” compared to standard plastic fast water kayaks. An inflatable kayak is easier to operate than beginners or people with little experience. The good thing here is that a collision with a stone or rock will be softened 🙂

At the same time the adrenaline in a lot more, because you are on the front line constantly and close to the water. For comparison, in rafting the boat occupies a higher position. When kayaking on the Struma River we use a two-seater inflatable kayak Gumotex, and in the second place a professional guide goes down with you. All the while, your guide gives directions and explains the best line to cross the rapids. The route also has calm sections, so you will have the opportunity to make an analysis of the way you are doing, to ask the questions that excite you or just to take a breath before the next fast 🙂

When and how is it held?

Kayaking descents are organized every day from the end of March to November. You can choose the starting time for your adventure – on Saturday and Sunday the hours are fixed respectively from 10 am, 1 pm. and 4 p.m.

How the Struka Kayaking program works

We will be waiting for you about 15 minutes before the start time. We will show you our base and you will have the opportunity for a short break. This is followed by equipment, instruction and training, actual implementation.

The whole program lasts about 3 hours, and the stay in the water is about 1.5 hours.

Difficulty of the route along the river Struma

When kayaking, the route along the river has a total length of 12 km – the most optimal route possible, which passes through the most beautiful rapids.

The main route is category 3 on the IRF International Six-Point Difficulty Scale. There is also a slight route class 2 on the International six-point scale of difficulty, which is done at high water levels or by special request.

When choosing a route, our safety is a priority.

Who is the program suitable for?

Kayaking on the Struma River is suitable for people who have experience in water sports. For example, if you have already tried rafting – we recommend that you try kayaking.

We would be happy to recommend it to people who do extreme sports other than rafting and kayaking 🙂

During the summer months, kayaking is also suitable for absolute beginners.

No specific physical training is required.

Recommended clothing

The necessary clothing for kayaking is a swimsuit. Neoprene will be provided for you. For convenience, bring with you: a towel and flip flops.
