The descent takes place in the upper part of the Arda River

Rafting on the Arda River – an adventure full of emotion and good mood!

The descent takes place in the upper part of Arda, in the section between the hydro-electric cascade “Byal Izvor” and the dam Kardzhali. In this area the river passes through a unique gorge, in which movement is extremely difficult without a kayak or shelf.

During the descent you will enjoy:
• The fantastic atmosphere and the surrounding panorama of the Arda gorge
• the emotions caused by the fast waters
• the heat and atmosphere of the campfire

Difficulty

Main route class 3 on the International six-point scale of difficulty; easy route class 2 on the International six-point scale of difficulty and is done at high water levels or by special request. Our safety is a priority when choosing a route.

Price: BGN 270 per person

The price includes:

full equipment: rafting boats, life jackets, neoprene (dry!), jackets, helmets, oars, boots (water shoes). The equipment is the right size for everyone.
professional instructors licensed by the International Rafting Federation are provided
transport during the whole trip.
tents, blankets and sleeping bags.
the price of the program does not include food.
the price of the program does not include accommodation in a hotel.

The descent can be in expedition style. We pack all the equipment, clothes and food needed for this descent in waterproof bags to carry with us.
We can buy the food we need during the trip together before departure.

Appropriate season

The best time for rafting on the Arda River is early spring. Then the flood of the river is strongest and suitable for the planned adventure.

Who is the program suitable for?

The program is suitable for people with experience in rowing and rafting, as well as for beginners. For those of you who have experience, the Arda River will provide an opportunity to explore a different river and gain diverse experience.

Additional Features

* Visit to the reserve near the village of Madjarevo, home to birds of prey and mainly a colony of griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures (possibility for observation).
* Accommodation can be in guest houses or a hotel in the area.
* Possibility for the use of personal transport
* Ability to adapt the program to your preference

Tour Plan

Day 1
Arrival in Ardino – small town in Rhodope Mountain. Accommodation in a hotel or camp near to the hydro-power plant 'Beli Izvor'. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 2
Breakfast. Transfer to Beli Izvor. After instructions and training, you will enjoy rafting to Devil's Bridge. Arranging our camp or transfer to a hotel/guest house. Relax, dinner and fun.

Day 3
Breakfast. We will start from the Devil’s bridge and our rafting route will finish at Kardzhali dam. Arranging our camp or transfer to a hotel/guest house. Relax, dinner and fun.
4
Day 4
Breakfast. Visiting the ancient Thracian city of Perperikon. Human activity in the area dates back to 5000 B.C. Departure, travelling back to Sofia.
